Live-streaming isn’t normally meant to be ominous.
But it seems that on this particular occasion, viewers certainly got a hell lot more than what they were asking for.
Douyin (TikTok) Star Burned Alive by Her Ex-Husband While She Was Live-Streaming
According to Daily Star, a TikTok star has passed away after her incensed ex-husband allegedly set her on fire.
The incident is believed to have transpired during an actual live-stream session.
Known as Black Girl Rahm on TikTok, and Ram in foreign reports, the 30-year-old victim was reportedly assaulted on 14 September in the prefecture of Aba in western China.
Apparently, her ex-partner had infiltrated her home and carried out the shocking act in front of family members.
As a result, she was left with burns that purportedly covered 90% of her body.
She also lapsed into a coma.
Despite going through intensive care for two weeks, the damage proved too severe.
On 30 September, Ram was, unfortunately, pronounced dead.
Divorce Proceedings
According to the same news report, the attacker, identified only as Tang, has since been arrested.
He was apprehended on the suspicion of intentional homicide.
Apparently, he had launched the attack after Ram commenced divorce proceedings due to domestic violence.
The couple has two sons.
Douyin
Ram was a popular vlogger on Douyin, the Chinese equivalent of TikTok.
She’s reported to have more than 782,000 followers on the video-sharing platform.

On the day of the attack, she had been performing a song and sharing her best wishes with her fans when her live broadcast abruptly cut to black.
Viewers then heard screams emitting from the feed.
Approximately one million yen (£114,038) was eventually raised for the family to cover Ram’s healthcare costs.
60% of the funds were used for her treatment, and the rest will be given back to the fundraising platform.
Not The First Instance
Though brutal, Ram’s horrific live-streaming session is not the first one of its kind.

In fact, another instance of a similar nature had occurred in the period of September.
On 31 August, a 33-year-old man committed suicide in his Mississippi home while live-streaming from his computer.
The clip was subsequently re-uploaded to various social media platforms, including TikTok.
It even (reportedly) surfaced on the app’s “For You” trending homepage, with numerous social media users claiming to have unintentionally viewed the clip.
“I was scrolling TikTok and suddenly there’s a video of a guy that killed themselves with a shotgun and I am seriously warning you DO NOT watch it DO NOT SEARCH FOR IT because it’s very terrifying and gory so pls BE CAREFUL god damn I’m shaking,” another said.
TikTok has since addressed the issue.

A TikTok spokesperson told Daily Star Online: “On Sunday night, clips of a suicide that had been live-streamed on Facebook circulated on other platforms, including TikTok.
“Our systems have been automatically detecting and flagging these clips for violating our policies against content that displays, praises, glorifies, or promotes suicide.
“We are banning accounts that repeatedly try to upload clips, and we appreciate our community members who’ve reported content and warned others against watching, engaging, or sharing such videos on any platform out of respect for the person and their family.”
“If anyone in our community is struggling with thoughts of suicide or concerned about someone who is, we encourage them to seek support, and we provide access to hotlines directly from our app and in our Safety Centre.”
And in an even earlier instance, an 18-year-old teenager had stabbed his neighbour during a purported argument in May this year.

It’s believed that the teen had committed the act to gain TikTok fame.
Three unrelated incidents, three incidents of a similar, grisly nature.
Hopefully, we will not see such skin-crawling videos circulating on a children-friendly app ever again.
