For many, Sentosa is like that one fancy restaurant you only go once a year. Not because it’s an atas place that should only be attended on festive occasions, but because you’re too broke to frequent it.
And yet, contrary to the beliefs of many, it is possible to visit Sentosa for more than its beaches, views and of course USS. And though it shocks me to say this…
You can even live there, as this particular expat has so kindly shown us.
TikTok Video of an Expat Sharing Why She Likes Living in Sentosa Went Viral
Sometime ago, TikTok user @the_sleep_goddess posted a cheery little clip titled “A few reasons why we love living in Sentosa” on the trendy social media platform.
In the 1:01 long video clip, the user could be seen ferrying her little children about as she explains just why she likes Sentosa so much.
“We love living in Sentosa, Singapore,” she starts.
“We cycle everywhere. We live next to the ocean.”
“The roads are super quiet and everything’s pedestrian-nice.”
“The bus drivers are super friendly and there’s a free bus service around the island.”
“We love the Marina, looking at the yachts.”
“Great restaurant options, we have Thai, we have Mexican, we have Greek, we have a good coffeeshop.”
“This is our local grocery store where we buy our groceries.”
“This is the local playground.”
“Residents only so it’s super safe. We love all the condo pools and the local fountains, and all the restaurant staff help me out on the daily with my children.”
So… rich. In quality of life.
Anyways, the video has garnered over 397K views and 29.7K likes to date. Netizens, inspired by the user’s documentary, have also started sharing their own experiences. Albeit with their own estates instead of Sentosa.
Such enriching experiences indeed.
Meanwhile, other Netizens commented on how rich the TikTok user seems to be, and whether they’re hiring. Or even adopting.
And of course… this.

Love and Joy
While the aforementioned content would have you believe that Sentosa is all love and joy, the truth is slightly different from it.
Back in March 2023, a 22-year-old female was walking along the Sentosa Boardwalk at night when her leg plummeted into a gap.
Left unable to walk for a week, she also had to contend with seven X-rays examinations.
Seeking monetary compensation from Sentosa, she then learnt that in order to get the money, she had to keep mum about the incident.
She ultimately decided not to sign the discharge voucher, and instead posted about her experience on social media.
Apparently, none of the Sentosa employees expressed concern for her injury, even when she interacted with some of them while trying to settle the issue.
None of them apologised for her unpleasant experience either.
The Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) eventually expressed its apologies for Ms Qian’s fall.
Besides that, SDC pointed out that Sentosa’s employees have been in touch with Ms Qian since the incident.
It said that its staff have called and emailed her multiple times to express their apologies and concern as well.
Based on SDC’s response, the corporation also offered to pay her medical bills.
