Final Call: Timbre+ Eastside at S’pore Expo to Shut Down on 26 Nov
Timbre+ Eastside, an urban food park located at Singapore Expo, is preparing to say its farewell.
Since its inception in 2016, Timbre+ has become a beloved destination, known for blending vibrant nightlife with exceptional hawker food.
Its unique concept as Singapore’s first container food court has won over many hearts.
Following its successful launch at One North in 2016, Timbre+ expanded to the east side at Expo in 2021.
This addition was warmly received, particularly by the “East-side” residents. East side best side!
Timbre+ Eastside @ Expo stands out as a green and sustainable food park. It features One Kind Blocks (OKB) around its playground, where herbs are harvested for cocktail garnishes and cooking ingredients, later used to aid those in need.
The space was thoughtfully designed as a community hub for socialising, learning, and entertainment – but only until 26 Nov this year.
In just two weeks, Timbre+ Eastside will not renew its lease at The Expo, opting instead to “embark on a new chapter and business opportunity.”
Hipster Food Court Prepares for a Stylish Departure
The decision to close Timbre+ Eastside was shared via an official Facebook post on 21 Oct, addressing their patrons as “Dear Eastsiders.”
To celebrate their time at Expo, Timbre+ Eastside is organizing a grand Wrap Up Party starting 3 Nov, culminating in the announcement of the next Timbre+ venture.
The “encore party,” themed “Thank You Eastside,” will showcase bands like Maz & Leo, Raz & Kaz, and feature various rock performances. It’s set to be a 21-day music extravaganza from Monday to Sunday, boasting 11 bands and 5 themed nights, including Flash Back Friday, Bring Back Rock, Maroon 5 & Coldplay Tribute, Reggae Night, and Tributefest – Double Bill Edition.
Additionally, special promotions will be available at the Bottle Shop for beer enthusiasts.
The announcement of the new Timbre+ location will take place at Timbre Signatures, the enterprise’s restaurant and bar located at The Arts House.
Behind the Scenes: Hawkers Face Uncertainty
Amidst the celebration, the hawkers of Timbre+ Eastside face uncertain futures. The decision to either relocate, close down, or await a new landlord weighs heavily on them.
Timbre+ Eastside spans 2000 square meters, serving as a livelihood for numerous hawkers. Some of these vendors, not part of larger chains, pioneered their businesses here and now face the difficult task of saying goodbye.
Interviews with ten stallholders by TODAY revealed that most do not plan to renew their leases with the new landlord. Choices vary between moving to new locations or closing permanently.
For those wishing to experience the MegaParty before the final goodbye on 26 Nov, Timbre+ Eastside is located at 1 Expo Drive (Outside Hall 5).
