The TraceTogether Token Looks Like a Mini Jerry Can & People Will Start Receiving Them From 28 Jun

Back in the pre-Ivan-Lim days, we thought that the TraceTogether token will look like a coin that we can paste on the back of our phone, so it would be useful for people who don’t want to download the app that purportedly drains lots of battery juice (but don’t mind going to Instagram every five minutes):

Soon, we realised that it’d be as big as a Digimon or a 1990s Motorola pager, and more people started to download the TraceTogether app instead.

And today, we finally see how it looks like, and all of us proceeded to download the app.

Here’s how it looks like:

People who’ve served in the army would be reminded of this:

From today onwards, you’d start to see some people hanging it with their keys, though it probably wouldn’t be you.

Seniors to Receive the First Batch of Tokens

The first batch of TraceTogether Tokens will be distributed to the most vulnerable seniors who are currently not digitally connected and at higher risk from COVID-19 from today onwards.

Now, do note that this is just the first batch: the authorities would be working with the tech community to improve on the design and functionality of the Token for subsequent batches.

Note to people working on the token: I’ve done up a design and if you guys are going to use this design, please contact Goody Feed to discuss royalty fees:

Volunteers and staff from the Silver Generation Office will be distributing the services, and it’ll even come with information brochures and fridge magnets to educate seniors on how to use it:

And there’s also an infographic that reminds us again that it doesn’t track your location.

But your eyes are rolling at the second point: DOES NOT reveal your identity? How?

Interesting enough, each TraceTogether Token will have a unique QR code and will be personalised for the recipient’s individual use only. So it’s like a NRIC without the NRIC number.

So far, there’s no need for anyone to do anything yet, since the authorities would distribute this first batch by themselves.

In the meantime, let’s wait for the second batch and hope that they’d incorporate the LV design.
