Hey, folks, itโs your man Zhi Hao here on the dot, and today heโs bringing some pretty cool news with him.
So if you recall, there was a movie that got our hearts all fluttery whenever we stepped on trains, all the way back in 2016:

Train to Busan.
Featuring an emotional storyline and a whole horde of World War Z quality zombies, the movie was a box office success, collecting $45m at the international box office and $57m outside South Korea.
Plus, it proved to be a hit with even the critics, scoring an impressive 95% on the Rotten Tomatoes scale.
So naturally, you would kind of expect a sequel to pop up sometime, considering its success and fan market. And it seems that we arenโt about to be disappointed, for South Korean director Yeon Sang-ho has confirmed that heโs working on a sequel to his hit zombie thriller.
But there are just three very major drawbacks, one of which is particularly shocking:
It wonโt be taking place in Busan.
Also, it wonโt be called Train to Busan 2.
Details
Speaking to ScreenDaily, the director revealed that the film will share the originalโs โworld viewโ, and is currently in the process of writing the script, with an aim to commence filming next year.

WIth the Korean working title Bando (which stands for Peninsula, a word which is no less incomprehensible), Yeon clarified that the film wouldnโt exactly be a Train To Busan 2.
โIt is an extension of Train To Busan, after the virus has spread throughout Koreaโฆโ
Also, hereโs the third drawback.
โBut the characters are not the same,โ he continued.
Which means that everyone youโve grown to love in the first movie wouldnโt be making a return.

โIt shares the same world view and is a zombie action film that deals with the aftermath on the peninsula of what happened in Train To Busan.โ
So this guy, whom we have in our office, wonโt be kicking zombiesโ asses again.
Thus far, casting and budget details are yet to be confirmed.
โIโm still writing the script, but the scale is rather large since there will be action with something to it,โ he said.

(Article continues below) Xing Xing is a 34-year-old Singaporean lady who decides to meet up with an online friend she found in Facebook. But it turns out that heโs not what he seems to be: Prepare boxes of tissue and watch the saddest Singapore Facebook love story here:

Plus, he has no plans for an animated companion piece to the movie this time, ala animation Seoul Station.
โIโm concentrating on this one film right now,โ he says.
Different Moniker, Same Thrilling Premise
While Train to Busan was memorable for its emotional setup and its ability to tug at your heartstrings, the movieโs main drawing factor was undoubtedly its whole line-up of calefares:
The A-grade zombies that wouldnโt lose to those maniacs from World War Z.

And while the characters youโve grown to love and empathise with wouldnโt be making an appearance in this movie (oh where art thou, daughter whose name I canโt remember?), the zombies are all set to return, and in that sense, youโre at least guaranteed a rollercoaster cum popcorn flick.
Plus, with Yeonโs ability to draft heartwarming stories out of nowhere (Iโm looking at the first instalment as reference), I donโt doubt a similarly, if not even more eye-watering, story in Bando. So really, thatโs one flick Iโm pretty much all hyped up for.
Although I do have a pretty interesting premise in mind. Just imagine the cast of Descendants of the Sun in the flick.
Now that would be a blockbuster flick worth its salt.
