We Tried The Salted Egg Chicken From The Local Box, And This Is What We Think…

One of the best things about working at Goody Feed is how we’re being constantly fed.

Umm no, I’m not trying to blame Goody Feed for ruining my diet plans. *ahem*

Anyway, one of our dear colleagues made a trip to Tanjong Pagar just to buy us lunch (Well, it’s for a food review). And now, I have to write an article about the Salted Egg Chicken With Rice I had for lunch.

Not that I mind though, since it was a nice meal.

Here’s what I think.

Hmm, the presentation looks pretty decent IMHO. I mean, I was actually expecting the food to be inside a styrofoam box.

I had some questions about the identity the purple coloured drink before, but my colleague refused to tell me more until I’ve drunk it (Gee, why so secretive.)

For some reason, it felt as if I was opening up a Christmas present.

Holy cow (chicken), the portion is a lot bigger than what I have expected! Seriously though, I’m so used to pathetic portions being served to me in a takeaway box that this actually came as a nice surprise.

Speaking of portions, the amount of salted egg yolk sauce given was decent too. Definitely enough for all the chicken in the box!

Now, for the million dollar question. How did it taste?

(Fat boy’s brain loading in progress…please hold)

Wow, that was good.

I mean, I never knew that food in a takeaway box could taste so good. The chicken was tender, unlike some stalls which just chose to fry them to a crisp.

To me, chicken should be soft and tender like this (I’m not really a fan of fried food).

Oh man, just look at the sauce dripping from the chicken. The aroma is real.

The salted egg sauce is more sweet than salty, which complements the lightly salted chicken quite well.

At that point, I was actually hoping for the video/photo taking to be over soon (HUNGRYYYY).

The egg was a run-of-the-mill type. Nothing much I can say about the egg. Though, I’m glad the yolk was still runny! Yum!

The veggies were a little disappointing, since they were a little under-cooked in my opinion. But hey, to each their own!

Image of drink was taken moments before tragedy (AKA me stirring the drink).

Now, for the drink.

It’s lychee flavoured.

Wait wat. Why is Lychee purple.

(Then my fellow colleagues had to remind my uneducated ass about the existence of butterfly pea flower.)

Orh. So it’s to make it Instagram worthy lah!

Anyway, the drink (Lychee Lagoon) is mildly sweet with strong hints of lychee. Definitely, something I wouldn’t mind drinking on a hot day!

(Hehe, it’s fun to stir the drink too)

Overall verdict

All things considered, I will give the food a solid 4 out of 5!

(If you’re a visual person, here’s a video for you to get even hungrier)

In fact, I would love to go back to the store for another serving of the salted egg chicken.

Hmm…perhaps I could convince my colleague to do more review on their other dishes!

Welp, see you guys at the next food review!

Since you’re here, why not watch a video about an NTU student who went all out to impress his crush, only to end up in…tragedy? Here, watch it and do remember to share it (and also subscribe to Goody Feed YouTube channel)!
