By right, three days after the presidential debate, we would now be Googling what ‘Proud Boys’ are or making funny memes about how two elderly white men quarrel so much that the people who did the subtitles quit halfway through the job.

But no: all of a sudden, Donald Trump and his wife was officially infected with COVID-19 after one of his closest aides, Hope Hicks, was tested positive.

Overnight, the conversation changed completely: what’s going to happen to the US now? Is Donald Trump okay, given that he’s in the “high-risk” category? Would the Government keep running?

Well, less than 12 hours after the announcement, we now have an answer.

Trump Allegedly Doing Well With Mild Symptoms & Will Continue to Work in a Hospital

For a start, unlike other COVID-19 patients who make hospital gowns a fashion statement the moment they got back their test results, Donald Trump was still in a suit when he made his first appearance after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

He was seen going to Marine One, a helicopter that transports the President for journeys, and even gave a thumbs-up sign to reporters before boarding the helicopter. Sometimes, during this short walk (from the entrance of the White House to the helicopter), he’ll answer some answers like this:

But of course he didn’t do that today (or yesterday, depending on which timezone you’re in).

People who accompanied him, like Secret Service agents (his bodyguards) and his staff, were all wearing face coverings.

He was heading towards Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, a U.S. military medical centre. The hospital has a secured and autonomous ward within the complex, and Presidents and Vice Presidents are routinely treated at the Medical Evaluation and Treatment Unit at the METU Suite. The complex also has a presidential office suite, which includes a sitting room, conference room, and hospital bedroom

According to the White House, Trump would be in the hospital for a “few days” and he would continue to send tweets—I mean, continue to work from the presidential office suite.

It’s unknown what’ll happen a few days later.

His press secretary has since given an update about his condition. She said, “President Trump remains in good spirits, has mild symptoms, and has been working throughout the day.

“Out of an abundance of caution, and at the recommendation of his physician and medical experts, the president will be working from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days.”

Reader Bao: Trump is heeding advice from medical experts? Reminds me of the day I started going to the dentist regularly only after I’ve had a toothache.

Interesting enough, his son, Barron, who lives in the White House, isn’t infected.

As for his wife Melania Trump, she has a “mild cough and headache.” And in case you thought she’s 25, do remember that she’s 50 years old this year.

His Condition so Far

Since Trump’s diagnosis, he’s been injected with “an experimental antibody cocktail, an intravenous dose of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals’s dual antibody. Known as REGN-COV2, it’s part of a class of experimental COVID-19 drugs known as monoclonal antibodies: manufactured copies of human antibodies to the virus that are being studied for use in patients with early illness.

He’s also taking immune system boosters zinc and vitamin D, aspirin, and other generic drugs.

One thing to note about Trump is that despite his age, he’s never been a smoker or drink any alcohol, so he’s been on a relatively healthy lifestyle since he was young. However, his weight and elevated cholesterol numbers were a cause of concern during his annual physical.

Tweeted a Video After That

If you’re worried about Trump because you want to watch the second presidential debate, fret not; Trump himself has Tweeted a video of himself speaking to his followers about his condition and he doesn’t even look sick at all:

Here’s what he said: “I want to thank everybody for the tremendous support. I am going to Walter Reed hospital. I think I am doing very well. But we are going to make sure that things work out. The First Lady is doing very well. So thank you very much; I appreciate it and I’ll never forget it.”

And just an hour ago, Trump became Trump again as he Tweeted, “Going well, I think! Thank you to all. LOVE!!!”

Former President Barack Obama has also sent his well-wishes to Donald Trump in a tweet:

And he also followed up with it, saying that “we’re in the midst of a big political battle right now, and while there’s a lot at stake, let’s remember that we’re all Americans. We’re all human beings. And we want everyone to be healthy, no matter our party.”

Trump’s political opponent in this election, Joe Biden, has also sent his well wishes to Donald Trump:
