Two people were taken to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation after a fire at Block 158 Mei Ling Street on Monday (19 October).
About 25 people were also evacuated as a precaution.
Fire Involved Items Outside Flat
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received an alert at about 12:30pm.
Items outside a 10th-floor unit were burning. Firefighters put out the blaze with a water jet.
SCDF officers evacuated two people from inside the flat. One required hospital treatment for smoke inhalation, as did another person from a neighbouring unit.
Police and SCDF carried out the precautionary evacuation. SCDF is investigating the cause of the fire.
MP Says Affected Residents Will Receive Support
CNA reported that Queenstown MP Eric Chua visited the scene and spoke with evacuated residents while responders worked to make the area safe.
In a Facebook post that evening, he wished those taken to hospital a speedy recovery and said he would continue monitoring the situation, keeping in contact with affected residents and helping where needed.
