Unused Primary School is Also Allegedly Used to House Dormitory Workers

Aggressive testing is being undertaken at foreign worker dormitories in Singapore.

And as the number of pass holders and dorm-related Covid-19 cases soar, more and more dormitories are getting gazetted as isolated areas.

Previously, the authorities have said that they are moving healthy workers in essential services off-site to military camps and off-shore facilities.

Off-shore facilities that look like a cruise ship, in fact.

It was reported that about 500 foreign workers will be housed there.

Unfortunately, not everyone will get the experience of living luxuriously during this period, just like the dude who served his 14-day SHN in a hotel.

Some were reportedly shifted to military camps.

While others, it seems, to an unused primary school.

Unused Primary School is Also Allegedly Used to House Dormitory Workers

According to a report on Lianhe Zaobao, unused school premises may also be used to house temporary dormitories.

A reporter from the newspaper allegedly saw a bus carrying foreign workers into Northshore Primary School on 13 Apr at 1.40pm.

The workers were spotted carrying large bags and luggage into the premises.

Police officers were also spotted standing at the school’s entrance while the staff takes the temperature of the workers before check-in.

Workers were also told “eight people in a room” and given the choice of who they want to bunk with.

Northshore Primary School

Northshore Primary School was completed in Jan 2020. It was built to serve the BTO projects in the area.

However, as some of the projects were expected to be completed in the second quarter of the year, it was projected that the primary school will only be operational at the end of the year.

During that time, the Ministry of Education (MOE) also said that the demand for primary school wouldn’t be high at this time, and decided to open Northshore Primary School and Northshore Kindergarten in Jan 2021.

Situation In S’pore Still Stable

While the numbers might seem frightening, most of them are work pass holders and dorm-related Covid-19 cases.

Community transmission remains stable until now, although NCID did warn that if Singaporeans continue not listening to instructions, the situation might change at any given time.
