Do you know that on the day when the Transport Minister announced the opening of eight new vaccinated travel lanes, SIA’s website went down temporarily?

Well, SIA would better be prepared for today, because I bet more people would be booking their flights for their year-end vacations today.

Unvaccinated Kids 12 & Below Can Travel in Vaccinated Travel Lane

As you probably know, Singapore currently has vaccinated travel lanes with Brunei and Germany, and from 19 October,  Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and the US will be opening up the lanes, too.

Vaccinated travel lane with South Korea will open on 15 November.

It’s a perfect timing for the year-end holidays except for one small problem: kids 12 and below aren’t offered the vaccine, so does that mean that parents would have to leave their children behind?

Today, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) said that unvaccinated children aged 12 and below will be allowed to travel into Singapore from countries under the vaccinated travel lane scheme from 19 October, when most of the lanes are open.

They’d still need to do the compulsory PCR tests except for young children two years and below.

CAAS said the age of the child will be based on the calendar year. “For example, a child born in or after 2009 will be allowed to enter Singapore under the vaccinated travel lane in 2021.”

The child must also be accompanied by a vaccinated travel lane traveller who meets all of the scheme’s requirements for entry into Singapore. However, the child need not apply for a vaccinated travel pass to travel to Singapore under the scheme, but are required to adhere to all other vaccinated travel lane requirements.

The leave application forms that have turned dusty have finally come in handy.
