SMRT has gotten a notorious reputation lately, from the flooding incident and the infamous Joo Koon collision. It looks like they can’t catch a break.
Now, there is a video that is going viral, but this time it is for all the right reasons.
I can hear SMRT letting out a sigh of relief.
Dare I say that the video might actually make the commuters have a change of heart.
So what is this video about?
Posted by Temasek Holdings on 19 Dec, it features a quirky, sassy Service Ambassador, going by the name of BeBe Marina or you can call her “Nenek Rock”, a nickname given by her grandkids.
Coz’ of her larger than life personality and her side-splitting commentary, the video garnered 111k views and over 2k shares.
Lost item on the train? Say hello to detective “Nenek Rock”
Lost an item on the train? Don’t worry, detective “Nenek Rock” will help track it down for you! BeBe Merina, Service Ambassador at SMRT, is Singapore’s busiest puzzle-solver. Saucepans, e-scooters, fans and helmets – she’s seen it all. And if the item isn’t recovered, SMRT helps make a difference for local charities.#TemasekInvests

BeBe Merina
Working for the Lost and Found Property Office for SMRT, she mentions that when a lost item isn’t claimed after three days, it is shipped to her.
She is a self-professed puzzle solver and has a penchant for mysteries.
The lost items that were not claimed will be tagged and be kept for three months. And if still, no one claims it, those in good condition will be donated to charity.
She even goes out of her way to find the rightful owners by Facebooking their names.
Talk about dedication!
You will be shocked to know the kind of things she has come across, such as saucepans, rice cookers and even champagne bottles!
Netizens’ reactions
Many found her adorable, can you blame them?
Thoughts
I don’t know about how the others feel about the SMRT, but it really made me think of all the unsung heroes who are working hard to ensure that people get to places as swiftly as possible.
And with over 1000 lost items monthly, she has her work cut out for her.
Keep doing you, Nenek Rock!
