While loan sharks use eggs and large GrabFood orders to intimidate their victims, legal debt collectors simply turn up with supporting documents and say, “Hey, it looks like you own our client some money”.
In response, debtors can do one of the two following things:
- Cough up the money
- Spray them with water
Now, you and I know that option 2 isn’t a legitimate option, because it’s not exactly helpful in maintaining peace between two parties in such situations.
But one lady here decided to do it anyway, and now, she may be in trouble with the police.
Woman Allegedly Sprayed Debt Collectors With Water
A video of a woman spraying water on debt collectors has made the rounds on social media.
A series of videos of the incident was shared on the debt collection company AG Adler’s Facebook page last Friday (17 Dec).
In the first video, 51 seconds long, two men from the company can be seen talking to a woman outside her house. She was not wearing a face mask at the time.
Within a couple of seconds, she stomped back to her house and told her family members to get inside.
She then picked up a garden hose, and because it seemed unlikely that she suddenly had an impulse to water her plants, one of the men from the company knew what she had planned, and warned, “She’s gonna spray water ah! Let her spray, let her spray!”
And for the next 20 seconds or so, the woman continuously sprayed the men, who instead of running off, decided to film her.
One of the debt collectors warned that they’d call the police if she didn’t stop spraying them with water, but, of course, the woman refused to listen.
“Wah now debtors owe money dun pay n comeout with many patterns, but this’ll teach us to be even tougher n wiser,” the company said.
Another video showed one of the men completely drenched, presumably after the encounter with the woman.
Police Report Lodged
Just as they had warned they’d do, the company lodged a police report against the woman for harassment.
Another post on the company’s Facebook page showed a few police officers speaking to the woman. The men from AG Adler were still at the scene.
“Debtor cause harassment to debt collector, so power lah u auntie,” one of the posts said.
With a pot of hot water waiting for her, it appears that it’s the auntie who’s going to be wet next.
