There Will Be Less Rain in the Second Half of October 2024

In the first half of this month, it’s been raining almost every day.

Perfect if you’re always looking for an excuse not to exercise.

But you can’t use that excuse now, because for the next two weeks, there will be less rain.

There Will Be Less Rain in the Second Half of October 2024

Warm temperatures and less rainfall are predicted compared to the first half of the month. While short, thundery showers are expected over parts of the island during the late morning and afternoon on some days, the overall rainfall is forecasted to be below average across most of Singapore.

Nevertheless, Sumatra squalls may bring widespread thundery showers and gusty winds during the pre-dawn hours and mornings on a few days. However, the last week of October is expected to see minimal rainfall, with several days experiencing little to no rain.

Daily maximum temperatures are expected to range between 33 and 34 degrees Celsius on most days, with highs of around 35 degrees Celsius on a few occasions. This suggests that the second half of October 2024 will be relatively warm, despite the reduced rainfall.

What Happened In the Last Two Weeks

In the last two weeks, thundery showers were a common occurrence over parts of the island in the late morning and afternoon on most days. On 14 October 2024, regional wind convergence resulted in intense thundery showers over Singapore, with Kent Ridge recording the highest daily rainfall of 145.8mm for the first half of October.

Despite the rainfall, daily maximum temperatures remained below 34 degrees Celsius on most days, with the highest temperature of 34.1 degrees Celsius recorded at Admiralty on 3 October 2024.

Most parts of Singapore experienced above-average rainfall in the first half of October 2024. Kent Ridge recorded rainfall about 137% above average, while Paya Lebar saw rainfall about 8% below average.
