Growing up we’ve all had cuddle buddies and refuse to sleep without them; we need them around even if we’re overseas.
If you’re more extreme like me and have more than one favourite soft toy, chances are (1) you took the liberty to name them, and (2) you’ve got a schedule for which toy to hug to sleep on different days of the week.
Head’s up guys, the secret’s out – maybe this was the biggest reason why the female species take forever to choose clothes.
Now, I’ll never think that anybody out there could love soft toys more than me.
But I was wrong.
S$3,000 to the hero who finds the missing teddy bear
A couple lost a teddy bear which has been through thick and thin with them at Marina South Pier MRT Station on 7 April (Sunday).
The man used Weibo, a famous Chinese social media platform to share about the unfortunate incident and gather help from netizens the following day on 8 April.
This is what he posted:
Here’s a translation of his post:
“We were careless in our haste yesterday and misplaced our teddy bear named Xiao Hong that both of us have treated like our own child. Xiao Hong is a brown teddy bear and was wearing a red Chinese oriental shirt when we lost him at Marina South Pier MRT.
We attempted to search for Xiao Hong for about an hour, but to no avail. We also sought help from a police officer but he insisted that we couldn’t check the CCTV footage as we do not meet the requirements.
In the end, both of us were forced to leave without Xiao Hong, as we had to return to the cruise for work.
Ever since we lost Xiao Hong, my girlfriend has been crying non-stop and I can’t help but feel devastated too. Xiao Hong has been with us for the longest time. Be it eating meals, watching television, or travelling overseas, our teddy bear has been our companion every step of the way.
I am willing to pay S$3,000 to anyone who brings Xiao Hong back to us.”
Not just a cuddle buddy
To the couple, their missing bear is a child which has been a considerable part of their relationship. Wherever they go, Xiao Hong goes.
With so much affection for their bear, it’s no surprise that the man’s girlfriend was low-spirited despite the one-hour long search.
The sight of his heartbroken girlfriend was too much to bear, thus he is offering a handsome reward of S$3,000 to whoever finds and returns Xiao Hong to him.
I’ve once lost my wallet which was never to be seen again, but my attempt of retrieving it pales in comparison to the couple’s efforts of reuniting with their plushie.
Xiao Hong’s features
Now, in case you’re galvanised into action either by your sympathy for the couple’s plight or the handsome reward, here’s some information about the bear.
- Name: Xiao Hong
- Fur colour: Brown
- Eye colour: Black
- Outfit: Red oriental shirt with gold detailing
- Size: Medium
- Ability to cuddle: High
- Key feature: The Princess Cruises logo printed on its right foot
From the image, it appears that the missing plushie is from Princess Cruises, and could be a limited edition version of the Cruise’s stowaway bear which retails for $24.95.
If any of our readers happen to see the bear with the aforementioned description, please do not hesitate to contact the poor guy on Weibo.
