If you are faced with a wild boar in public, what would you do?
- Run
- Stop and take photos
- Wait for a hero
For this man, he decided on option 3: to push his bicycle backwards while a heroic street dog saved him.
Street Dog Appears to Save Man from a Wild Boar at Pasir Ris Park
A man at Pasir Ris Park was faced with a huge dilemma where a boar was stalking him and his bicycle for some unknown reason. The incident was posted on Facebook.
At the start of the video, a man in grey could be seen filming a boar and a man. After the man in grey left the scene, the situation became clearer.
A boar seemed to be attracted to a man and his bicycle. It followed the man and even sniffed his bicycle’s rear tires. Possibly in shock, the man quickly pushed his bicycle away from it at a rapid speed.
The man took a left turn and walked towards the camera while pushing his bicycle backwards away from the boar. Not getting the hint that the man just doesn’t want to see it anymore, the boar persisted.
Luckily, a black dog spotted the distressed bicycle and man. The dog chased after it, separating the boar and man.
Thinking he was safe, the man stopped by the park bench to put on his mask properly. But that seemed to be a wrong move for the boar quickly went back on his pursuit of the man and his bicycle.
Now that the man has a concrete bench separating him and the boar, it seems that he felt safer for he continues standing there, trying to assert dominance through his fiery gaze.
The curious and possibly hungry boar does not seem that interested in him as its head tilted towards the bicycle’s basket. The heroic dog could be seen escaping the potential crime scene as the two stood in this position.
The video was then stopped, leaving viewers with all the questions and no answers.
Black Dog
According to a netizen, the heroic black dog seemed to be part of a pack. The pack consists of four black dogs that often hang out around Pasir Ris Faraway 1.
This is not the first time the black dog was deemed to be a hero, apparently, as the pack of dogs are constantly trying to separate the wild boars and humans.
Another netizen also added more information about the pack: about six months ago this pack of heroic dogs had a litter of puppies as well.
Pasir Ris Park Boar
And also, this is not the first time a wild boar is seen in Pasir Ris Park. Last year, a woman was attacked by a wild boar while she was trying to make her way home.
Unlike the boar shown in the video, the boar then was filled with anger. It charged out from the foliage and knocked the woman down, injuring her.

What Should You Do If a Wild Boar is following you?
Some of the netizens were confused as to why the man stood there and did not cycle away. However, according to ACRES, what he did may just be part of the right thing.
According to ACRES, if a wild boar is following you, you should not make any sudden movements or loud noises. Instead, you should move away calmly and slowly.
One of the reasons why wild boar follow humans is that they are conditioned to see humans as food suppliers. So, the boar that followed the man may just be hungry and waiting to be fed.
Kind of like cats.
