You’ve heard of overly attached girlfriends.
You’ve heard of overly attached boyfriends.
But guess what? Those are so 2017.

There’s a new ‘overly attached’ tag in town, and it’s all the rage right now.
The overly attached domestic helpers, a.k.a. OADH.
The overly attached domestic helper
A video of a woman hitting a little girl in a library started making its rounds on social media last week.
According to a Stomper who shared the video with the citizen journalist site, the incident had taken place on 2 November at Jurong West Public Library.
(BTW the video has since been taken down by the original uploader)
It shows two young girls playing by a bookshelf.
Alright, nothing particularly shocking there.

A woman then approached the two kids.
Their mother, perhaps?
The woman starts smacking the taller girl.
The worst part? You can hear the sound. Like bam.
Ouch.

According to both the Stomper and video uploader, the woman was a domestic helper. It wasn’t confirmed, however.
So what’s the story?
The helper had apparently smacked the taller girl for attempting to befriend the other child, whom she was accompanying.
“The girl had run up to a smaller child, maybe to be friends with her,” the Stomper said. “But her maid came rushing up quickly and slapped the girl telling her, ‘Don’t touch her!'”
Speculations
Reactions were pretty mixed.

Some proposed to fight fire with fire.
Some doubted the authenticity of the video.
Some wondered whether it could be a simple misunderstanding.
Some appointed culprits.
Me? Well, I honestly think that further evidence has to be shown, before we can make a conclusion.
Firstly we only have the Stomper and video uploader’s points of views to work with. It doesn’t exactly help that they don’t seem to know the full story themselves either.

“The girl had run up to a smaller child, maybe to be friends with her,” was what the Stomper had said. “But her maid came rushing up quickly and slapped the girl telling her, ‘Don’t touch her!'”
Not the most solid evidence there. Although the slapping part couldn’t be more authentic.
Granted, we also had a commenter who had watched the full video before it was taken down.
Although it’s kinda questionable: what was the reason for the edit?
Secondly, if we angle it logically, no person would smack a small child who’s not even under her “charge” over something so trivial. Except for psychopaths la. And the antagonist here is probably not one.

Thirdly, was the taller girl really trying to befriend the smaller one? The video looked like it was filmed by a hairless potato, so I can’t really tell. Again, this links back to the first point.
Therefore folks, don’t judge so quickly.
For all we know, the taller girl might have been the aggressor all along.
