These days, dating apps have been on a rise. Being the tech-savvy bunch, millennials and Gen-Zs are now more open to the concept of finding a potential partner through digital means.
Tinder, OKCupid, Coffee Meets Bagel, Sugarbook, Bumble. And the list goes on.
But apart from dating apps, dating agencies are also a thing. Slightly less conventional, but hey if it works, it works.

Dating Agency Couldn’t Find a Woman her “Mr Right”
One woman decided to engage a dating agency to help find her “Mr Right”. The woman paid more than S$2,000 for five dates with potential suitors that fit her ideal type.
You must be wondering, what are her criteria then?
Well, the woman said she wants a man who:
- Is taller than 1.63m
- Draws more than S$8,000 in monthly salary
- Has a similar level of education
- Is Chinese
- Is either a Buddhist or a free thinker
She also mentioned that her expectations were “not high”.
However, after a few matches put together by the agency, the men did not manage to live up to the woman’s expectations. Needless to say, she was soon met with disappointment.
According to the woman, she was upset over the quality of the matches.
As such, she requested a refund for the remainder of the package. The dating agency rejected her request.
FYI: Each date comes with an additional cost of up to S$400.

On the dating agency’s side, they counter proposed via email to say that an upgrade of the package could be allowed instead. The woman could receive a dating coach on top of two complimentary coaching sessions.
Nonetheless, the woman was firm on getting a refund.
Dating Agency Agents were “Unprofessional”
According to Shin Min Daily News, the woman also reported that the agents from the dating agency lacked proper attitude.
She allegedly had to chase the consultant to set up a date for her, and the interlude between different dates was also rather long. It would be between two months to even up to half a year.
The woman also claimed that one particular consultant went missing in action after watching her with a potential partner. It was only a few days later that the woman was replied.

The alleged reason for being MIA? The consultant said she got into an accident.
As of now, the woman, who’s 39 years old and works as a manager in a bank, she’s still single and very available.
