There all kinds of abuse in the world but child abuse is pretty much the worst, right after animal abuse (of course).
So when I came across this news which I am going to tell you in a bit, I was like:
So, according to Lianhe Wanbao, as translated by Stomp, a 39-year-old woman was charged in court on 22 Jan for beating up and dangling a child from the windows of a 3rd-storey apartment.
What happened
The victim who was a primary 4 student was living with the aunt as both his parents were in jail due to drug charges.
On 3 Feb 2017, the victim saw his aunt—the abuser—heating up a white powder of sorts and inhaling the vapour.
He then ran out of the house, afraid that his aunt would beat him.
Unfortunately, the aunt found him right after midnight and that is when the abuse started
She asked him to kneel at the door while she proceeded to use the said white powder.
She, then, threatened to throw him off the 3rd-storey apartment.
She carried him into the kitchen and dangled him outside the window while grabbing his legs.
Here is an illustrated pic to give you an idea:
With his upper body out of the window, he held on tightly to the laundry rack and he begged his aunt not to let go.
He, then, brought him inside and proceeded to hit him with an aluminium laundry pole and a bamboo scratcher.
She also slapped him and burned him with a gas lighter.
The next day, he told his teacher when questioned about his marks.
He sustained bruises and scars on his head and neck.
For every action, there is a reason (I’m sure)
The aunt’s lawyer mentioned that she was deeply remorseful for her actions during the mitigation plea.
The lawyer mentioned that the boy had been naughty and left the house and he was brought to a police station subsequently by a passerby.
He mentioned that the aunt was under a lot of stress as she has seven children and was with three of her children during the time of the incident, taking care of them and the house on her own coz’ her husband is out working.
She also gave birth recently and it took a toll on her.
With that said, she pleaded guilty to one count of child intimidation and abuse and was sentenced to 10 months in prison.
The court also mentioned that she entered a drug rehabilitation centre and will be released next month.
Thoughts
All I could think about is the poor kid and what he must have been through.
And let’s hope the aunt recovers from her addiction.
