Everyone would have known by now that COVID-19 is a highly contagious virus that can infect anyone anywhere as long as you’re not careful enough.
The virus has already infected over 90,000 people and has killed more than 3,000 people, with the bulk of it being people in China.
While there are some people who choose to go out and breach their stay-home notices despite knowing that they have been infected
Here’s a story about a considerate and responsible Wuhan university student who quarantined himself for fear that he will infect others.
Returning Back To Hometown From Wuhan
According to China Press, 25-year-old Guo Yue is an accounting student studying at a university in Wuhan.
He had to return to Cangzhou from Wuhan on 22 January presumably to celebrate Chinese New Year with his family.
But since that was a time where he already knew about the coronavirus outbreak, he decided to take lots of precautions.
Not just to ensure that he would not be infected but also to make sure that he would not infect others.
He wore gloves and three-layer masks, and even went as far as to tell his dad to bring disinfecting alcohol to the airport when he came to pick him up so that he can disinfect himself and his luggage before heading home.
During the flight, he kept to himself and did not speak to anybody.
And the moment he reached home, he quarantined himself just to be safe.
He shared, “Because I came back from Wuhan, I was afraid of spreading the virus to others so I planned to quarantine myself for 14 days.”
Now, how considerate is he for doing something like this, when he wasn’t even sure if he was infected yet?

Tested Positive For COVID-19
Two days later, he found out that his university classmate tested positive for COVID-19, so he thought that it would be better for him to get checked too.
And that was when he realised that he, too, tested positive for COVID-19. He was then admitted into the hospital.
Surprisingly, just a week or two later on 7 February, he was deemed to be fully recovered and he could be discharged from the hospital.
However, since he still had fears that he was not completely free of COVID-19 and that he did not want to accidentally infect others, he quarantined himself in his family’s garage.
Most people who know that they’ve fully recovered would probably rejoice and go out for a celebration, but not Guo Yue.
So how did he keep in contact with the outside world and have his meals?
Well, he talked to his family using his mobile phone and had his meals delivered to him by his parents through a small slot on the door.
Tough, but he knew it was mandatory.
A Selfless Act
He stayed in his family’s garage for two weeks and made sure that he felt completely healthy before he came out of the garage.
As a result of his actions, no one else in his family was infected by COVID-19.
Guo Yue later said that after spending a long time in isolation, he is glad that it all paid off and that he did not infect anyone else. He is also glad that he did not cause any inconvenience to his family or the people around him.
After he recovered, he also contributed to helping other COVID-19 patients by donating his blood.
It is admirable that he would be so selfless to do something like that, even if it meant that it was going to be tough for him.
Clearly, from the reports so far, it is not an easy feat since many people have breached their stay-home notice.
Hopefully, more people can learn from Guo Yue and do their part in helping to curb the spread of COVID-19.
