Everyone at some point (even me) must have had the thought that we are too late or rather, too old to learn something.
But veteran Mediacorp artiste, Xiang Yun, proves us wrong as she’s officially now a certified Nutrition consultant after graduating from a nutritionist course at 60 years old.
Graduation Celebrated by Family
On Instagram, Xiang Yun’s husband Edmund Chen wrote a post about witnessing the effort put in by his wife for “a year and eight months” to attain her graduation cap.

“Congratulations to you and your sister for officially becoming nutritionist consultants,” said Chen in his post.

But the congratulations did not stop there as Xiang Yun’s son, Chen Xi, also gave this two cents on how he felt watching his mom graduate.
“To be honest, I didn’t expect myself to get emotional over this. But I always remember how my mom loved to learn; how she never had the chance to complete her education journey due to financial challenges in those days,” said Chen Xi in his congratulatory post for his mother.

Life-long Learning Embodied by Other Artistes
Xiang Yun’s not the only local celebrity that has gone on to pursue their education at a later age.
Recently, local actor Suhaimi Yusof also graduated from university at the age of 52 along with his 25-year-old daughter Nurjannah Suhaimi on 15 May.

He obtained a bachelor’s degree with first-class honours in Broadcast Media Production at Teesside University.
Likewise, 49-year-old seasoned deejay Dennis Chew also made a move to pursue his education at Ngee Ann Polytechnic for a diploma in Chinese Media and Communication.
The radio start and Mediacorp artiste shared his decision to continue his studies while he was accepting his All-Time Favorite Artiste Award at the Star Awards this year.
This goes to show that anything is possible really so long as your heart and mind is set on achieving it.
