Using words like “breath-taking”, “most beautiful” or “revolutionary” isn’t necessary to introduce this latest phone by Xiaomi. Just take a look.
Known as Mi MIX, the phone is almost bezel-less. And while Samsung fanboys and fangirls will argue that having a curved screen is much better, hold your horses and read on first.
Mi MIX covers more than 91% of the screen (t0 be precise, 91.3%), bringing the year 2100 nearer to us. Designed by Philippe Starck, a well-known French designer who designed almost everything to perfection, from small stuff such as a staple to big stuff like hotels, it adds some form of prestige to the “budget” brand. Oh, to add fuel to the fire, he also designed Steve Jobs’ yacht.
The specs of Mi MIX are almost on par with Samsung Note 7, with a quad-core 2.35 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 system chip, 6GB ram and a crazily large 4,400 mAh battery. But I guess the key difference is that Samsung Note 7 was in the market for only one month, while MI Mix should be able to last for, erm…longer, just like the thousands of phones released so far.
There has not been any confirmation on whether it will officially arrive in Singapore, but the release price in China is at 3,499RMB, which is about SGD$717. For the record, Samsung Note 7 is about SGD$1,168 while iPhone 7 Plus is at SGD$1,248.
Oh, and remember the Samsung fanboys and fangirls who like a curved screen? Apparently, Xiaomi has also unveiled another phone, Mi Note 2. It’ll set you back by 2,799RMB (about SGD$575) and has specs almost on par with Samsung Note 7. As for the design, let’s just say that the resemblance isn’t just limited to just names.
I don’t know about you, but somehow, the era of Samsung and Apple is ending soon, just like how fast the era of Nokia and Blackberry ended.
