Toast, eggs, and a hot cup of coffee will likely never go out of style.
In Western countries, this might be sourdough toast, eggs benedict, and a latte.
But in Singapore, we have our own unique way of savouring toast and eggs – the iconic kaya toast with butter, perfect for dipping into a soft-boiled egg.
It is a classic favourite that has stood the test of time, and when you think of your go-to spot for this combination, Ya Kun Kaya Toast immediately comes to mind.
Ya Kun Kaya Toast isn’t just a local favourite; it has gained popularity worldwide.
With over 70 outlets abroad, Ya Kun Kaya Toast has expanded its operations to countries including South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and China.
Their latest venture took them to Manila, Philippines, where they recently opened a new branch to continue spreading their love for this timeless breakfast delight.
Ya Kun Opens Its First Outlet in The Philippines & Its Price is Rather Unexpected
Ya Kun Kaya Toast opened its first outlet in Manila, the Philippines, on Sunday (10 December 2023) at One Ayala Makati.
Despite the geographical distance from Singapore, the new establishment received a warm Singapore-style welcome in the form of a traditional lion dance.
Based on pictures shared on Facebook, the food offerings at the outlet appear to be remarkably authentic and closely resemble what we enjoy here in Singapore.
The interior of the store also maintains the familiar look found in outlets across Singapore, featuring wooden chairs and square white marble tables.
Prices of Set Meals
With the recent opening of its outlet in the Philippines, many locals may be curious about the pricing of menu items compared to Singapore.
Interestingly, the set meal prices in Makati City are more affordable than what you would find in Singapore.
For example, the popular Set A, which includes kaya with butter toast, eggs, and a beverage, is priced at just ₱168 in Manila, equivalent to about S$4.
In Singapore, a similar kaya toast with butter set, complete with a hot drink and eggs, starts at a minimum of S$6.30, making it more than S$2 more expensive for the same offering.
Just like any Ya Kun Kaya Toast outlet, the new eatery serves the classic Singaporean breakfast set – a steaming cup of kopi or teh with soft-boiled eggs and slices of toast.
Additionally, the menu in the Philippines features other beloved Singaporean dishes such as laksa, curry chicken, and rice with meat skewers.
To make the experience even more enjoyable, there’s even a handy guide to help customers “order coffee like a pro”, presumably to assist first-time customers in the Philippines who may not be familiar with Ya Kun Kaya Toast.
Ya Kun Kaya Toast Increases Prices of Set Meals and Beverages in Singapore

This discovery was made after a Reddit user shared an image of the current set meal menu on 6 December 2023, which showed a 12.5% price hike.
The menu displayed the prices for Set Meals A, B, C, and D, each priced at S$6.30. Set Meals E and F were priced at S$6.70 and S$6.40, respectively.
