Yesterday, There’re Actually 2 S’pore Malls That Caught Fire

On Tuesday, 28 March, a mall caught fire in the morning. Then another mall caught fire in the evening.

In the morning, the Samsung Experience Store in AMK Hub basement caught fire. The joke writes itself. I don’t even have to write anything funny here.

Actually, this guy has a pretty good joke.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, as it was early morning, somewhere around 1.25 am. The fire had broken out in the storeroom, and was quickly put out by the sprinkler system within minutes.

In the morning, the mall opened for business as usual, except for the area around the Samsung store, which was cordoned off for cleaning and public safety. The Samsung store itself will remain closed temporarily, as Samsung investigates the cause of the fire with the relevant authorities.

In a freak coincidence, another mall, relatively nearby, had a store catch fire as well, this time in the evening. Around 9.50 pm, a fire started at a staircase landing in Nex shopping mall in Serangoon. The fire involved some construction materials.

SCDF quickly arrived, and put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher and a hosereel.

Patrons were alerted to leave the building and avoid using the lifts, and according to witnesses everyone was calm and trying to avoid the smoke.

People say Singaporeans are “kiasi”, but when there’s an actual fire like that, nobody really cares. Got fire means got fire lor, no need run around and scream. Just walk out can already.

Like the Chinatown Point fire a few weeks back, Singaporeans seem to be a very calm and stoic people, even in the face of a potential disaster.

Since you’re here, why not check out Goody Feed’s YouTube videos as well? They’re so Singaporean, I bet you’ll like them!
