The cats were reported to be missing in Nee Soon East around blocks 249 and 227.
Residents who were worried that the cats might have faced some danger reported the disappearances to their Grassroots Community.
Netizens’ Reactions
The post comments were flooded by angry netizens and residents.
Many feel that there should be stricter laws to prevent animal cruelty. Some have even presented their theories about a cat killer who schedules his attacks yearly.
Netizens have poured out their concern and implore the government to start enforcing stricter laws and met out due punishment to the abusers.
Facebook user Samoona Pun (@SamoonaPun) commented: “Singapore’s law to protect the animals are weak!! There are far more many cries, abuse and neglect but nothing to done to punish the guilty! Soon enough, the saying “Pet abandonment is a crime u will be fined $xxxxxx” will not be taken seriously since authorities don’t take any actions.”
The public responded well to her comment and agreed that fines should be imposed on cruel animal abusers.
Besides the angry comments about fines and punishment, there were many netizens who came forward to express their sadness towards the cat’s passing. Many of whom are cat-lovers that enjoy the presence and company of their four-legged neighbourhood friends.
There were also other comments sharing that their neighbourhood cats in other Yishun regions might have also gone missing.
One had commented that their community cat has also gone missing suddenly after two years with them.
