You know the saying, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and that is why your ex is happily attached.
Treasure hunting for trash (or gems)
Jokes aside, you’d be shocked to find out that junk collectors have actually found a few gems amongst the trash such as a pair of the latest Puma trainers and an unused Louis Vuitton.
That’s not all.
Wilson Lee, customer service manager at Junk To Clear mentioned that his firm has collected new clothes, shoes and toys and some are still in its unopened packaging.
Just, last week, two workers from Junk To Clear, removed a fitness machine, a plasma display panel and two televisions, from a third-floor apartment.
Even the rag and bone man aka Garang Guni has hit jackpot—finding items like golf clubs, iPhones and GPS devices.
What happens to the junk
While it might seem like Singaporeans are wasteful—the average Singaporean throws away about $170 worth of food and beverage annually—the salvageable items are donated to charities and sold to waste recycling firms or second-hand dealers.
Director of moving company, A Bros Communication, Irwin Mohamed Ali, has received bed frames and television consoles that are only a few months old.
He will, then, donate it to needy families.
What can you do
Instead of dumping them haphazardly or seeking service from junk disposal firms, you can donate them to charity or you could sell it at antique stores since vintage is “in” these days.
And you will be saving some moolah too!
