It’s an unfortunate fact that not every instance of sexual assault gets reported.
Some survivors would prefer to keep details of these harrowing incidents to themselves, and understandably so.
Others have found solace in detailing their abuse online and naming their abuser, such as in the #meetoocampaign.
In this case, however, it was the alleged perpetrator who came forward to talk about his misdeeds.
Allegedly Admitted to Sexually Assaulting Intoxicated Girl
The alleged offender was apparently made to confess to his crimes by two Instagram users in a livestream on Monday (22 Nov).
The post, put up on an anonymous account, has since been deleted, but not before it was reposted on TikTok in two separate posts.
The first video begins with two men demanding that the alleged offender make his face visible on camera before making his “apology”.
He then says: “I would like to apologise ah for what I’ve done… and I know it was wrong”.
The two men then ask the alleged offender to recount the specifics of the incident, to which he said: “I fingered the girl”.
“I fingered her when she was intoxicated,” he said, adding that he’s not sure if she gave consent because there was a point where “she say she did allow it…”.
One of the men then reminded him that someone cannot give consent when drunk.

He later says: “I fingered a girl without her consent when she was intoxicated,” adding that he feels like “absolute crap” about it.
The two men then push the alleged offender to confess his crimes at the police station, in order to grant the girl some “justice”.
After some hesitation, the alleged offender says: “I will go to the police station and turn myself in.”
One of the men then made him “pinky promise” that he will follow through on his promise.
Police Confirm Youth Arrested
That same day, after the video went out, the police said they received multiple reports over the matter.
Their investigations led them to an 18-year-old man, whom they arrested the next day.
Two days later, the man was charged with an offence of sexual assault involving penetration. If guilty, he could face up to 20 years in prison, a fine, or caning.
The police are continuing their investigations to determine if there are other victims involved, during which the teen will be remanded.
The police said it takes all reports of sexual assault seriously and will ensure that perpetrators are severely dealt with.
“Victims of sexual assault are encouraged to come forward to report a crime,” they said.
“The police adopt a victim-centric approach to sexual crime investigations and victims will be handled sensitively during the investigation process.”
