Today, I’m going teach you kids the darkness of YouTube. Okay, it isn’t as ominous as it sounds, but damn I’ve always wanted to say that. #ChildhoodFantasy
Okay, serious time: did you know that YouTube has a hidden dark mode?
If you’ve paid attention, you’ll realise that while under the light, a white screen will make everything seems livelier; in the dark, it’ll just make it incredibly straining for your eyes.
And here enters the Dark Mode of YouTube, where it turns all the light surfaces into dark ones to create a pleasant viewing experience in the dark.
And the good news is, you can easily do it to your own YouTube as well! Take note that you have to be logged into your YouTube account and using Chrome 57 and above.
Here’s How You Do It
First, enter the Developer Tools tab on your browser and switch to the ‘console’ panel. You can use the keyboard shortcuts ctrl+shift+I (Windows) or option+cmd+I (Mac).
Copy and paste the code document.cookie=”VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=fPQ4jCL6EiE” and click enter.
Once done, just refresh the page and click on your YouTube account avatar.
You’ll realise there’s an option for Dark Mode; simply enable it and your YouTube UI will immediately enter dark mode.
Now, I’m not sure what type of videos you’ll be watching in the dark…
…but you can thank me later! 😀
