I’m sure you’re familiar with Zheng Ge Ping and Hong Hui Fang.
They are well in their own rights a power couple in MediaCorp, and they are such a good looking couple that you will probably swoon at the sight of them.
In fact, many of us would have watched their dramas since we were kids!
Well, guess what? Their own daughter, the beautiful Tay Ying, has decided to follow in their golden footsteps!
Chio, right?!
According to Toggle, on July 27, Tay Ying announced that she has signed an artiste contract with Addy Lee’s 3X Media Production. This happened during new salon M Nature’s opening party.
When asked why she didn’t join the industry earlier, she explained that she was really focused on her studies and didn’t want to be distracted from it, and she also felt she didn’t have the ‘skills’ for it.
With her parents being recognizable names in Singapore, she didn’t want to go out with a bang and ruin their reputations instead.
However, her love for performing, as well as previous experiences doing dance and commercial shoots, won out in the end. That and the fact that 9 to 5 jobs didn’t sit well with her.
Zheng Ge Ping and Hong Hui Fang were apparently not surprised with their daughter’s decision too. They felt that she’s always been with them, learning the ropes of the industry as she grew up.
The easy-on-the-eyes actress will be appearing in upcoming Channel 5 drama Missing You, and will be a supporting character with lead actors Pierre Png and Rebecca Lim.
She will also produce and star in an online Vlog series that introduces viewers to local food gems (that’s like combining mainstream media with new media!).
So for you audience that are looking for a fresh face in the Mediacorp industry, please look out for her! I have this feeling that she will have a great career ahead, and my sixth sense’s always been pretty strong!
Here’s a fun fact: her younger brother, good-looking Calvert Tay, is also an actor! It looks like we really have an entire family of actors here!
In the meantime, if you can’t get enough of this family, you can catch Zheng Ge Ping every weekday at 9:00 p.m. in 卫国先锋 (When Duty Calls) on Channel 8.
