I had a really good laugh when I was told to write about this. In fact, the entire office laughed so hard that we couldn’t function for close to 5 minutes.

Maybe we should make the criminals from CHC pay for our loss of productivity. Pretty sure they still have a lot of money sitting at home, you know.

In case you have no idea who Chew Eng Han is— since most of us only know Kong Hee, Serina Wee and Sun Ho— here’s an image of his face.

Now, imagine him escaping in a motorised Sampan.

Hmm…

Chew Eng Han, the former fund manager of City Harvest Church, was convicted of misusing church funds and was due to begin his jail term of three years and four months this Thursday, 22 Feb.

However, on the morning of 21 Feb, as if a scene from a low-budget action movie, Chew was nabbed at sea when he was allegedly trying to leave Singapore illegally from Pulau Ubin to Malaysia.

According to the police at a briefing at the Loyang Police Coast Guard Base, Chew was arrested together with a man named Tan Poh Teck at around 8.47 am while on board a motorised sampan.

This is how his motorised sampan looks like.

He was found with fishing equipment and around $5,000 in cash.

Wait, what? Going fishing with $5,000? Something’s obviously not right here.

The two men have been arrested for attempting to leave Singapore unlawfully at an unauthorised point of departure under Chapter 133 of the Immigration Act.

If found guilty, offenders could face up to a maximum fine of $2000 or a maximum jail term of 6 months, or both.

Those found guilty of this offence could face a maximum fine of $2,000 or a maximum jail term of six months, or both.

And here comes something interesting.

Chew Eng Soon, elder brother of Chew Eng Han was also arrested on the same day at approximately 3.40 pm for abetting the offence of leaving Singapore illegally.

Those convicted of abetting an offence can face a maximum fine of up to $6,000 and a maximum jail term of 6 months.

Walao eh, elder brother still help younger brother do this kind of thing. Isn’t the older brother supposed to be the role model?

And here I am, thinking that we won’t hear anything else about CHC anymore. Well, looks like criminals will never fail to surprise us common folks, eh?

Unlike the other CHC members, Chew is the only one who has yet to start his jail term by requesting to defer his sentence to spend Chinese New Year with his family.

And guess what? He was supposed to start his jail term tomorrow (22 February 2018).

You don’t need to be a scientist to know what he’s thinking.
