Previously… on article serial ‘Yishun strikes again’…

Halimah Yacob decided to stay in her Yishun housing estate, and it was subsequently swarmed by police and security officers.

It will stay that way for 6 years, so good luck to her neighbours.

Disclaimer: the popular series ‘Yishun strikes again’ has been publishing for a pretty long while, and has gained a decent following in its run.

However, it was in danger of being cancelled after Halimah Yacob announced her intention to stay in Yishun. With the upgraded level of security in the area, it was thought impossible for Yishun to incur any more trouble.

Or so we thought.

On today’s episode of ‘Yishun strikes again’, we have a feature piece titled: Live at Yistana with the President herself.

A property agent by the name of Lawrence Ng, 35, had put up this Carousell listing on September 16. (It’s also on Property-Guru and social media)

And it looks like the ERA Singapore agent was born under a creative star, with a slick ad that managed to incorporate some of Halimah Yacob’s influence.

The fact that he somehow managed to make the negative aspects sound attractive absolutely amazes me. This guy was born with a literal golden pen in his hand.

Yistana V2.0

According to The New Paper, Ng said that the flat’s a five-room corner apartment, three floors below President Halimah’s home.

Its owner, Mr Wong, 35, a civil servant, had been a resident there for more than a decade. And he was eager to clarify that he had been planning to sell the flat long before the president was elected.

So far, there have been quite a few interested parties hitting Ng up.

Food for thought, hmm?

The flat’s not that bad

But if you think about it, there are actually a lot of perks to staying there.

Firstly, you get to see Halimah Yacob every day.

Secondly, you get to have free security.

Thirdly, there will be a fanfare every single day, so no boredom.

Fourthly, you have a hospital nearby (Khoo Teck Puat Hospital), the upcoming North Point City and several neighbourhood schools (Northland Primary School, Chung Cheng High School).

And then there are the rare few drawbacks.

  1. Restricted number of parking lots.
  2. Security screening every day, even if you’re deadbeat tired from work and just want to crash.
  3. No privacy; what if they check the network around your area? No downloading of obscene stuff, eh?
  4. No freedom whatsoever. Play your guitar too loud and cops are on your door.

Thoughts

So if you’re contemplating moving, why not go for it? SGD 460,000 doesn’t sound that bad, considering the inflated prices nowadays.

There’s just the small matter of being inconvenienced at times.

No biggie.

Well, moving on.

Next time, on ‘Yishun strikes again’, Steven Lim buys the vacated Yishun flat and makes friends with Halimah Yacob.

That will be wicked.
