Unless you are going for a cruise or boarding a ferry to Bintan, you will probably not set foot into HarbourFront Centre ever since VivoCity started operations, right? Harbourfront Centre is conveniently linked to Singapore’s international cruise centre and it is, in our humble opinion, one of the most underrated shopping malls in Singapore. Here are some facts you might have forgotten about this shopping centre.

It used to be known as the World Trade Centre.
It had exhibition halls, which have since been demolished. Major exhibitions now take place at the Singapore Expo and Suntec City. VivoCity now stands where these halls used to be.

The Groupon Singapore office used to be located here.
Familiar with Groupon? Of course you are! Before moving to UE Square, its main Singapore office was located here.

Dim Sum Buffet with a fantastic view.
At the Ban Heng Pavilion Restaurant, you can tuck into a sumptuous Chinese buffet, while enjoying the view of Sentosa. At night, you can see the fireworks from here as well! Want to know what’s even better? Hold your wedding banquet here! It has made it into our article on the cheapest place to hold your wedding dinner.

Crazy queues. For a day.
When free cable car rides to Sentosa and Mount Faber were offered over the National Day weekend in conjunction with SG50 last year, the HarbourFront Centre saw queues snaking around its corridors. On the last day, 10 August, people waited more than 10 hours in line, to claim a free cable car ride. Some had queued from as early as 7am.

Yummy hawker fare.
The food court on the 3rd floor, TUCKSHOP, is known to have really good la mian and cai peng. Like really, really good. Want to know what’s even better? It’s affordable as well! There are two food courts in the mall. Tuckshop is the smaller foodcourt located near the ferry ticket booths.

Wait, you can get this in a supermarket?
The hot food corner in Cold Storage reportedly has pretty good fried mee siam.
