The all-new iOS 11 is officially launched. Have you downloaded it yet? If you have, perhaps you would have noticed that many things have changed, and some have been hidden.
If you are frustrated with the new iOS 11, let us help you to familiarise.
A new Control Centre
Swipe up your new control centre from the bottom of the screen, and be delighted at the new design it now has. Most importantly, this new 3D Touch Support control centre allows you to customise it to fit your needs. That means you can get rid of all those unwanted shortcuts and add in those which you wanted.
Clearing notification is easier
If you have been irritated with the fact that you have to clear notifications one by one, you are now officially saved! Notification can be cleared with one tap now! Just hold on to the X button until the “Clear all Notifications” menu appears (erm, you Android users, I know that is like so super duper common…).
Drag and Drop Function
Yay! Drag and Drop function now works on both the iPad and the iPhone. While this feature really makes using the iPad so much better, it also creates new possibilities for the iPhone.
Annotate Screenshots
Remember the time where you need to use another app to annotate photos and screen shoots before you send them out? Now you don’t have to. Just tap on the screen shot thumbnail in the lower right corner after you have taken one, annotate it and send! You can even delete it immediately after sending or sharing from the same interface!
Now, while Samsung Note users are laughing at all iOS users for this “old” feature, here’s the thing: iPhone hasn’t been in the news for exploding before #justsaying
And why are there Android users reading this?
Apple Map is upgraded
While this is not a new invention, it is still pretty cool to know that Apple Map now provide lane guidance when you are driving. Nonetheless, you would probably still stick to Google Map if you have been a fan (who isn’t…?).
Indoor Maps are available
If you are not in need of lane guidance while driving, perhaps you will need some guidance indoor? Apple Map now helps you with directions while walking in certain locations like airports.
Also, since Singapore is so small, don’t expect indoor maps for your favourite malls.
Screen Recording Function
After years of request, it is finally here! You can now record what’s on your screen using your control centre. That is super convenient and you can literally do a screen cast from your phone! No need to download a third-party app anymore!
Built-in QR Code Reader
With iOS 11, your camera becomes your QR code scanner. You no longer need to depend on third-party apps which takes up space on your phone storage. Cashless Singapore FTW.
Built-in Document Scanner
Similar to the QR code scanner, you no longer need to download a third-party app to scan your documents. Instead, you can scan documents directly from your Notes app. It is easy to use and definitely helpful to many professionals.
Better storage management
iPhone just gets smarter with each iOS release. The new iOS 11 will tell you when you are running out of storage and even suggest ways to fix the problem! Of course, they do provide reasonable suggestions instead of asking you to buy the new iPhone X!
Instant Siri Translations
This will come in handy when you are overseas and can’t speak the local language. Nonetheless, do be careful when using this since Siri has a habit of saying the wrong things at the wrong time. Even then, it is a pretty cool feature!
Now, if only Siri can translate our Singlish, man.
If you have not download the iOS11, you should do that now!
