3,167 COVID-19 Cases Reported on 31 Oct with 13 New Deaths

When our COVID-19 case numbers surpassed the 5,000 mark a few days ago, we expected that number to keep on climbing.

But it has thankfully dropped down to just over 3,000 infections in the last few days.

While that number keeps fluctuating wildly, one statistic that sadly seems to remain somewhat constant is the number of fatalities every day.

For quite some time, the number of fatalities reported daily has been exceeding 10, and yesterday was no different.

13 COVID-19 Fatalities

13 more COVID-19 cases passed away from complications, taking our death toll to 407.

Age between 57 and 89, all had various underlying medical conditions, except for two unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals who had no known medical conditions.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) did not specify how many of the fatalities were unvaccinated.

3,163 New COVID-19 Cases

3,163 new COVID-19 cases were reported yesterday (31 Oct), an increase of 51 from the previous day’s tally.

The cases comprise 2,745 infections in the community, 414 in migrant worker dormitories, and four imported infections.

Among the local cases are 531 seniors above 60.

Large IMH Cluster Continues to Grow

The cluster at the Institute of Mental Health swelled to 266 cases yesterday after three more were linked to it. 250 patients and 16 staff members have been infected.

One case each was added to the cluster at Orange Valley Nursing Home in Clementi and PCF Sparkletots @ Whampoa Block 85.

The nursing home cluster has 14 cases, while the preschool has 20 infections, 13 of whom are students.

MOH is currently monitoring four large clusters with new cases, the last of which is at ECON Medicare Centre & Nursing Home. Located at 10 Buangkok View Block 9, the cluster now has 34 cases, all of whom are residents.

1,672 COVID-19 Cases Warded in Hospital

At the moment, there are 1,672 COVID-19 cases warded in hospitals, most of whom are well and under observation.

284 serious cases require oxygen supplementation and 130 are in the intensive care unit, comprising 69 cases who are unstable and under close monitoring, and 61 who are critically ill and intubated.

Over the past seven days, the number of fully vaccinated and non-fully vaccinated cases who have been critically ill in the ICU are at 0.5 and 4.5 per 100,000 population respectively.

The same figures for seniors aged 60 and above are 2.0 and 35.8 respectively.

Over the same period, the number of fully vaccinated and non-fully vaccinated cases who died are 0.1 and 0.9 per 100,000 population respectively.

The same figures for seniors aged 60 and above are 0.4 and 8.7 respectively.

Currently, 84% of our population has been fully vaccinated and 85% have received at least one dose. 15% have received their booster shots.
