Imagine that the increase is sales revenue; the entrepreneur would have been over the moon.

But no; this is the number of Wuhan virus confirmed cases in China, and as you’d probably infer, the exponential growth isn’t making anyone happy.

4 Feb 2020 Update: Wuhan Virus Cases Now Over 20K With Sharp Increase of Over 3K New Cases in a Day

While Singapore reports no new case for two days in a row, China’s not so fortunate.

Today, the China authorities reported a whopping 3,235 new infections.

That’ll put the total number of confirmed cases in China at 20,438, and worldwide at 20,626.

As you probably know by now, that’s way more than the number of confirmed cases for SARS, which infected 8,098 people back in 2003.

64 Deaths in a Day; Total Deaths at 426 Now

What’s even worse is the number of deaths reported.

Yesterday, the number of new deaths reported was 57. Today, it’s reached 64 deaths, bringing the total to 426 deaths (one of which occurred in the Philippines, though the man was from China).

In total, SARS killed 774 people worldwide, with 33 deaths here in Singapore.

The Coalition has Begun

The US has flew its people out of Wuhan last week and also offered China help.

It’s reported today that China had accepted the help. US experts would proceed to help study and combat the virus as part of a WHO mission.

As of today, the virus has spread to 26 other countries. Back in 2003, SARS has hit 28 other countries.

Singapore has barred all China visitors, and anyone who’s been in China for the last 14 days, from entering our tiny island. 524 people here are under quarantine order, with 302 of them being on home quarantine.

Countries all over the world are still evacuating their citizens out of Wuhan.
