I really have no idea what these people were thinking. And yes, I am referring to the victims. Perhaps the culprits were really convincing, but I really don’t see myself exchanging mobile phones for $100 each and then believing that the contracts would be terminated.
(Oh yes, just in case you’re wondering, that was exactly what happened)
On 25 Jan, two men and two women, aged 19 to 45, have been arrested for their involvement in a series of mobile phone contract scams.

On 18 Jan, one of the victims lodged a police report, claiming that he had been tricked into signing up for mobile phone contracts with phones. Apparently, the victim had responded to a job offer posted on Facebook promising $600 a day!
Look, guys. If something’s too good to be true, it probably is—just like that pretty girl you’ve met online.
So anyway, said victim did the whole exchange thingy for $100 I was talking about just now, only to realize that the contracts were not terminated.
Geez, I really know how persuasive the suspects were. Or maybe, the victim was too desperate for money.
Anyway, the victim then tried to contact the suspects, but to no avail.
The suspects were subsequently arrested on Wednesday, 24 Jan, along Orchard Road. According to investigations, approximately 10 victims have fallen for the scam.
One of the suspects, a 20-year-old woman, will be charged in court on Friday for cheating. Should she be found guilty, she may be jailed for up to 10 years and fined.
Investigations are still ongoing against the other suspects.

Don’t get me wrong though. Scammers don’t deserve a single ounce of pity. But seriously though, use your head before committing petty scams like this.
For the case of the woman, she’s probably going to spend a good part of the twenties behind bars instead of enjoying her youth. If the thought of that doesn’t scare you, you’re either too young(soon, man) or too old to care.
