What’s the first thought that comes to your mind when you spot a 7-Eleven store?
Snacks? Drinks? Ice-cream? Skincare products? Durex?
Whatever it may be, it’s time to add one more category to that list.
Makeup products.
Yes, my boys and girls; 7-Eleven has launched its own cosmetic line to be sold in stores worldwide.
And it could come to Singapore sooner than you think too!
Simply Me Beauty
While it might seem like something conjured on a cold Friday night in a Thai bar with lots of drunken men and questionable females, there’s no doubt about it; 7-Eleven’s brand new cosmetic line goes by the name of Simply Me Beauty.
Incidentally, the cosmetic line will feature an array of products including mascaras, blush, concealers, BB creams, lip crayons and much more, and they will all be under US$5 each.
Why cosmetics?
7-Eleven said that the new cosmetics line is an answer to increasing demand from millennial women.
“The beauty industry has seen a dramatic growth of cost-conscious cosmetics in the marketplace, because millennial women are looking for a variety of colors at affordable prices,” said Lindsay Robertson, product development category manager of 7‑Eleven.
“They like to buy and try, and our goal when developing the Simply Me Beauty line was to create a line of makeup that had a quality look and feel without a high price barrier.”
Well said, 7-Eleven.
On the behalf of every self-denying, penny-pinching house hubby on this planet, thank you.
When will it be available?
The brand has been pushed out to select stores in the United States as of 21 Nov, and will be soon be available globally.
However, Indonesian consumers won’t have access to the line as the local arm of 7-Eleven shut down its outlets across the country at the end of June.
What next?
With their own line of food, drinks, skin care products and now cosmetic brands, I can’t help but wonder what they’ll be pushing out next.
Budgeted sportswear, perhaps?
Affordable protein supplements would be good too.
Or maybe even durian-flavoured condoms? Oh wait, someone created that already.
Guess we just gotta wait to discover 7-Eleven’s next surprise!
