This family lost a grandmother and a father in just a matter of weeks.
Just last month, Kamarudin Bin Abdullah’s mother died due to old age. On 27 July, Kamarudin, who was still in mourning, died from an asthma attack.
According to a Facebook post by his friend Rizal Rashid, Kamarudin had seven children, and worked three jobs to support his family.
The doctors managed to resuscitate him after he collapsed from the asthma attack, but his heart had already stopped working for an hour. The damage had already been done, and he died shortly before midnight.
He leaves behind his wife and his seven children.
Crowdfunding for Family
Rizal said in his Facebook post that Kamarudin “has never shirked away from his responsibility as a son, husband and a father”.
To support the grieving family who had just lost their breadwinner, Rizal started crowdfunding with the approval of Kamarudin’s wife.
His Facebook post went viral quickly, with donations streaming in from many people. Some even asked if the family will accept a small donation monthly.

In an update, he thanked the public for their overwhelming support, and that they will cease crowdfunding a day earlier.
The collection of donations has since stopped on 20 July at 12pm, which is one day ahead of the planned date. Mdm Nora, Kamarudin’s wife, said that the amount received is more than enough, and that she is very appreciative of the public’s support.
The money will be collated and a cheque will be issued to Mdm Nora, with proof of handover to be posted on Rizal Rashid’s Facebook.
If you would still like to make a donation, you can contact Mdm Nora directly on Facebook.
It must be truly difficult to lose two loved ones in such a short span of time, and we sincerely hope that the family will recover stronger from this.
