A 50-year-old woman was taken to hospital after she was hit by a car at a road junction in Clementi on Saturday morning, 29 August.
Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were alerted to the accident at the junction of Clementi Avenue 2 and Commonwealth Avenue West at about 8.45am.
The woman was taken conscious to the National University Hospital.
A 51-year-old male driver is assisting the police with investigations.
Dashcam Video Shows Woman Crossing With Umbrella
Footage posted on the ROADS.sg Facebook page shows a pedestrian carrying an umbrella crossing the large junction.
According to The Straits Times, the traffic signal for vehicles travelling straight along Commonwealth Avenue West towards Clementi was green at the time. The signal for vehicles turning right was red.
The woman can first be seen crossing part of the junction before reaching a traffic island.
She then continues across the remaining lanes.
Some vehicles in the rightmost lanes were stationary, while traffic in other lanes was moving.
As she crosses, a car travelling through the junction hits her. The impact sends her onto the road, and the car stops shortly afterwards.
8world also reported that the footage showed the traffic signal allowing vehicles to proceed when the collision happened.
The available footage does not establish responsibility for the accident, and the police have not announced any finding on fault.
Driver Assisting Police Investigations
Police told the media that the 51-year-old male driver is assisting with investigations.
No further information on the woman’s condition has been reported as of Sunday morning, 30 August.
