Aaron Kwok is many things: charismatic, renowned, successful… the list goes on and on.

But what some people may not know about the handsome Hong Kong singer is that he also has a heart of gold.

A heart of gold that allows him to help others… without expecting anything in return.

Aaron Kwok Has Once Visited a Fan in Coma & Sang a Song to Her on One Condition

According to 8 Daysthe 54-year-old Heavenly King has kept one single charitable act under wraps for almost three decades.

In the year 1994, an apprentice jockey named Francis Lam was caught up in an accident which left her with a severe brain injury.

She subsequently lapsed into a coma.

Desperate, her family members approached host Luke Tsang and conveyed that Lam was a longtime fan of Kwok. They also hoped that the star would pay Lam a visit in the hospital, on the off chance that a miracle could happen.

According to the news report, Kwok agreed, but on one condition.

The Purest Form Of Kindness

Apparently, Kwok had requested that the family keep it a secret from the press.

And as we now know, they complied.

With the agreement in place, Kwok reportedly made his way to the hospital in the middle of the night and performed a live rendition of his classic hit, ‘Loving You Forever’, in front of the comatose Lam.

If only she was aware of the scene that was unravelling before her.

Alas, Kwok’s performance, while undoubtedly marvellous, did not prove miraculous. Lam eventually passed away without regaining consciousness.

If only.

However, the family remained grateful to Aaron over the years. And lest you’re wondering, they were not the ones who spilt the secret.

Apparently, the decade-long act was only revealed to the press recently, by a source who is purported to be from the hospital.

And Netizens Were Moved

After hearing the story, Netizens could not help but rave about Kwok’s humility and how he has stayed grounded over the years despite his iconic status.

“He’s a good man, and I hope his wife and children can be as kind as he is,” one netizen remarked.

They also reminisced the various charitable deeds Kwok has performed throughout the years and applauded him for his constant efforts to assist the underprivileged.

Charity

Kwok has a reputation for participating in charity events, and he did not break his stride even amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier in May 2020, Hong Kong’s Canto-pop “dancing king” held an online charity concert to help the city’s struggling dancers.

Titled Cheer Up & Dance, the concert would go on to attract around 2 million viewers and raise more than HK$1 million.

The one-hour performance featured the singer-dancer-actor with around 100 dancers and was live-streamed on multiple channels on social media from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

A Heavenly King, In More Ways Than One

Throughout the course of his career, Kwok has shown over and over again why he’s called one of the four “Heavenly Kings”, alongside Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau and Leon Lai.

But Kwok’s more than just a “king” in showbiz.

He has also shown that he has a heart worthy of one as well.

As one Netizen summed up so concisely:

“They say the richer you are, the stingier you get. Aaron has riches to last him a lifetime, but it seems like the richer he gets, the more he wants to help others around him. This is the kind of mindset our society needs to have.”

Truly… the heavenly king, everyone.
