What’s up with drivers crashing into height limit barriers?
First, it was an excavator hitting an overhead bridge at Balestier in June. The damage done to the bridge was so bad that it had to be removed.
Then, in September, an excavator hit a height limit pole at KPE in September which went viral only a month later and now this.
According to The Straits Times, on 6 November, a part of Punggol East Road was closed for three hours after a truck crashed into the height limit barrier.
According to LTA’s One Motoring Site, Punggol East Road, towards TPE, after Punggol Field Walk was closed from 4:05 p.m.
So this should be the area that was closed off.
The police were alerted at 3:35 p.m. about the accident along the slip road at Punggol East into TPE.
Luckily no injuries were reported and police investigations are still ongoing.
The road was reopened by 7:10 p.m.
That’s like four hours of downtime because someone forgot that he’s too tall.
If drivers are found guilty of damaging road structures aka government’s property can be facing 2 years behind bars or a fine up to $5,000 or both!
Let’s just hope that this does not become a common thing, like the pipe bursts that we are so used to by now.
Or maybe…all these have been going on in the past, but without social media, they were all buried away? #justsaying
