In the second half of August 2022, there are likely to be more showers with thunder than in the first half.
In the late morning and afternoon on most days over the next two weeks, you can expect moderate to heavy thundery showers that last for a few hours. When winds from the area come together, thundery showers could hit the island on a few nights.
Sumatra squalls can also bring widespread thundery showers and sometimes strong winds in the early morning and before dawn on a few days.
In general, the second half of August 2022 is expected to have more rain than the first half. Most parts of the island will probably get more rain than usual in August 2022.
Even though there will likely be more rain in the next two weeks, there could still be a few hot days with highs of around 34 °C. Most days, the weather forecast says that the temperature will be between 24 °C and 33°C.
On a few days when it rains, the lowest temperature of the day may fall below 23°C. Some nights will be warm and humid, with lows of up to 28°C.
This is especially true in the eastern and southern coastal areas, where winds from the southeast bring warm, humid air from the surrounding seas.
How the First 2 Weeks of August Were Like
Other than the annual miracle of good weather on 9 August 2022, the first half of August has been rather rainy.
On 2 August 2022, there were moderate to heavy thundershowers in many parts of the island due to a large-scale convergence of winds over Singapore and the area around it. The rain was especially strong in the western and northern parts of Singapore. The 78.6 mm of rain that fell in one day at Kranji was the most rain that fell in one day in the first half of August 2022.
During the last two weeks, the highest temperature each day ranged from 29.5°C to 35.1°C. There were a few days when it was dry and warm, and the highest temperature of the day was over 34°C.
On 11 August 2022, it was the warmest day ever recorded at Marina Barrage, with a high of 35.1°C.
There were also a few nights when the lowest temperature on the south, east, and west coasts of the island was above 28°C.
In additional, the western half of Singapore got more rain than usual, while the eastern half got less rain than usual. The amount of rain that fell in Jurong was 105% more than usual, while the amount that fell in Tanjong Katong was 83% less than usual.
