Auntie Walked Past Reusable Mask Being Dried, Took a Look & Just Took It Away

People have been acting really strangely during the circuit breaker period.

One man was caught skiing on the road a few days ago, another man viciously attacked a Maserati for no reason, and violent crimes are becoming as common as circuit breaker fines.

But at least the above actions can be explained:

  • The skier couldn’t travel to Switzerland, so he chose the CBD instead
  • The Maserati must have provoked its attacker in some way
  • People are sick of living without bubble tea and are taking it out on other people as a result

But no one can explain why the heckĀ thisĀ auntie did what she did.

Auntie Walked Past Reusable Mask Being Dried, Took a Look & Just Took It Away

A video of an auntie committing theft has made the rounds on social media.

On 16 May, All Singapore Stuff uploaded a video of the theft which reportedly took place at Jalan Bahar.

The item she stole, however, is not something you’d expect, like an expensive watch or handphone.

Instead, she stole- well, just see for yourself.

Yes, she stole a reusable mask – most likely the one that Ah Gong has given us. And we all know how bad the mask is.

But what’s more confusing is the manner in which she did it.

Walking past the mask and picking it up as casually as she did, you’d think she was taking a flyer from someone outside an MRT station.

And she didn’t even look around to check if the coast was clear; she simply picked it up, inspected it like an apple at NTUC, and walked away with her new mask.

Netizens were equally confused.

Netizens’ Reaction

Some people pointed out that the mask may have been coughed or sneezed on, since it was hung outside.

Others criticised her for being “selfish”.

One observant viewer believes this was not the lady’s first mask theft, considering how calm and composed she was.

For some reason, despite getting free masks from the government, this auntie just couldn’t help herself when she saw one dangling so invitingly.

Maybe black is her colour?

Singaporeans To Receive Improved Reusable Masks In Third Distribution Exercise

Fortunately for this auntie, she may not need to steal any more masks, because the government recently announced that there will be a third mask distribution exercise, where Singaporeans will get “improved” reusable masks.

The exercise will likely be carried out towards the end of the circuit breaker period.

The government worked with local manufacturers and A*Star to improve on the materials used for the reusable cloth masks.

The new cloth masks will have higher protective qualities and also be more comfortable to wear for a long period of time, said Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing on Wednesday (6 May).

For now, though, if you only have one reusable mask, I’d advise you not to hang it outside your house, because it could collect germs and even viruses.

And even if that doesn’t happen, the Mask Thief of Jalan Bahar might get you, and you won’t be able to leave your house after that.

Oh, wait.

Maybe the auntie’s goal is to get the resident to stay home.
