Remember the whole saga about Ben Davis defaulting NS to play for Thailand?

Well, it looks like he won’t be wearing Singapore or Thai jersey anytime now.

What is it you say? Wasn’t he going to be playing for Thailand in the Southeast Asian (SEA) games?

Yes, that was until the land of smiles decided to frown upon him.

Ben Davis Removed From Thailand’s SEA Games Squad

On Wednesday, 20 November, a squad announcement was made by the Football Association of Thailand. Footballer Ben Davis was not named as part of the SEA Games squad that will compete at the upcoming games in the Philippines.

That was a nicer way of saying that he was removed from the team, even though he was called up for Thailand’s provisional squad in September.

It’s like getting a tight slap across your face after your parents have just praised you for your good results.

It’s like deferring NS after living in Singapore for 10 years.

It’s like choosing to wear Thai jersey over Singapore jersey, then getting rejected from Thai provisional squad.

Need I go on?

Singapore To Face Thailand in SEA Games Match on 1 December

The moment when it was confirmed that Singapore would face Thailand in the SEA Games on December 1,  many fans speculated that David might be battling against his Singapore teammates.

Sorry to disappoint you, but that is not going to happen now.

Now that he is dropped from the Thai squad, what are his future plans? Does he intend to come back to Singapore, remain in Thailand or head to England?

If he comes back to Singapore, he’ll be jailed as he was already declared a Singapore National Service defaulter in February 2019.

If he stays in Thailand, he doesn’t get to play for the Thai squad.

Perhaps he’ll kick his way to England, who knows? We can only wait and see. After all, this is Ben Davis we are talking about.
