The block is relatively close to Boon Lay Shopping Centre, a popular place that houses an NTUC FairPrice and Power Boon Lay Nasi Lemak.

According to reports, he appeared without emotions when the charges were read out to him.

He’s now remanded and his case has been adjourned to next Friday (4 September 2020).

As the incident had happened in public, the woman was found lying motionless at the void deck.

A passer-by, a student and part-time food delivery rider, had called the police, and bystanders were crowding the victim by then.

Officers from both the Criminal Investigation Department and Jurong Police Division arrested the man within three hours of the reported incident.

The victim was sent to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, but succumbed to her injuries at 9:58pm.

For anyone convicted of murder, he or she will face the death penalty or life imprisonment with caning.

Third Murder in Two Months

As mentioned, murder in Singapore is rare but it’s not so in the last few months.

In July, two other people have been charged for murder: a woman was charged for killing her 4-year-old daughter and a domestic worker was charged for murdering her elderly employer.

During the Circuit Breaker period, a 20-year-old man was charged for killing a jogger near a bus stop in Punggol Field Road.
