Guess what? We have a place on Buzzfeed’s The 34 Best Foods In The World list!
I bet you’re thinking.. is it Chicken rice? Chili crab? Or Laksa?
After all, those are the Singaporean specials that Gordon Ramsay tried to outdo Singapore in, and what better than a dish that we triumphed a world-famous celebrity chef in, to take a place on that prestigious-sounding list?
Well, it’s not. In fact, far from it.
I bet you had that same face too.
Anyway, yeah, Buzzfeed credited Singapore with Din Tai Fung’s Xiao Long Baos, which isn’t even close to being Singaporean exclusives.
And Netizens were quick to latch onto it.
And they are right. There are tons of Din Tai Fung restaurants around the world, and the restaurant originated in Taiwan.
The Xiao Long Bao, on the other hand, could have its origin traced all the way back to Jiangnan, China.
But then again, they could’ve been referring to the chilli crab xiao long bao, which is exclusively Singapore’s.
In the meantime, why not look into our authentic delicacies? For example, the Chicken rice and Laksa dishes we won Gordon Ramsay in! What do y’all think?
If you’re interested to know what other dishes Buzzfeed included in their list, you can check it out here!
But thanks anyway, BuzzFeed, for bringing us to the world’s attention again. Xoxo
