The Korean restaurant Captain K Seafood Tower had high ambitions and a pioneering concept for food, but after six years of service in Singapore, it will be formally shutting its doors this April.
It writhed and struggled to survive through the tough times of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it still toppled over in the end.
On the evening of 7 March, Captain K Seafood Tower announced its closure on Facebook.

After stating that the restaurant would be closing in April 2022, it wrote, “This is a heart-breaking moment for the 6-year-old restaurant filled with so many happy memories. Words can’t describe how difficult this decision is for us to make.”
It goes on to recount its journey from Prinsep Street to Middle Road, where the restaurant currently resides, and it’s proud that it’s “one of the go-to spots for a premium seafood hot pot experience”.
Thereafter, it thanks all its employees that have contributed to the success of the restaurant, who have shown their “unwavering loyalty” and “outstanding work ethic in circumstances”.
It expresses its gratitude to the customers, the friends and family, who have been there to support the restaurant and witness its growth through every step of the way.
“To all of our customers, who have been our true motivation, and showed us an incredible amount of support! Thank you!”
The Beginnings and The End
Captain K Seafood Tower was founded by Kenneth Koh, a former chief marine engineer who had turned his eyes from the intricate machinery of ships to the fresh goodness of seafood as he was inspired by his global expeditions.
His restaurant promised that the seafood served to its customers would be “as fresh as it gets”, only buying from suppliers that are committed to sustainable fishing practices whilst ensuring the best quality ingredients.
The restaurant claims to be the first and only Seafood Tower and Hotpot restaurant in Singapore and boasts an extensive and communal friendly menu to accommodate customers from all walks of life.
Judging from all of the tasty photos that it has uploaded and shown, I daresay that they have lived up those claims.
