Chicken Rice Stall Owner Who Counted $1,000 Notes Got Into Another Quarrel With Another Taxi Driver Again

Back in 2017, when having chicken rice in a coffee shop wasn’t an offence and the only virus that wreaked havoc in our lives were those that infected our computers, a man got into the headlines for belittling a taxi driver by counting $1,000 notes in front of the driver while saying that the taxi driver had to work as one because he “couldn’t do big things.”

The Internet never forgets, and the video is still live here:

After that, the owner did a Daryl Aiden Yow, apologising for his actions, seeking forgiveness from the driver and even preparing 200 packs of free chicken rice for taxi drivers in two of his chicken rice outlets (100 each) on 2 May 2017.

End of story?

But 2020 comes, and it seems like the next season of the $1,000 Chicken Rice Owner is back, and it’s not a Daryl Aiden Yow after all.

Drunk Again, Taunted Again, Taxi Driver Again But With a Different Ending

In 2017, Gary Lim was trialled in a court called “Social Media Court”, and his punishment was being online shamed.

But now, the $1,000 man is charged in a real court.

It turns out that last year, which is two years after he got his infamous badge of honour, he had taken a taxi on 3 May in the wee hours.

He was drunk again and had fallen asleep in the taxi.

He then got into an argument with the taxi driver after the driver woke him up to ask for payment.

The cause of the argument?

The driver was rude.

Two police officers then arrived, then Lim took out $1,000 notes and counted them, and went home peacefully…no I kid you, that wouldn’t have warranted an article.

Instead, he remained uncooperative and stood at the centre of the road, shouting at the top of his voice.

Not sure if he was counting money there, though.

The officers eventually had to arrest him, and before they did so, Lim did the unthinkable: he used a vulgarity that referenced the officer’s mother.

He eventually paid the taxi driver $20, and just like a real man, his mother had to step in to give the taxi driver an extra $50.

Don’t Give a…Shit

In the Social Media Court back in 2017, the extremely respected CEO had told the judges (us, that is) that he didn’t remember any of his actions as he was too drunk, and expressed remorse for his actions. In fact, he claimed that he had no intention to utter those painful words.

But in the real court yesterday (16 June), it’s a different Lim altogether.

The super kind leader who waived off delivery fees for the elderly and gave discounts to healthcare workers had appeared uninterested in court, and when the judge asked if he had reflected and thought of how to avoid such a problem in the future, guess what he said?

“Don’t take taxi lor.”

He even claimed that he had since stopped drinking.

The coolest judge then said, “A lot of people take taxis, but they are not in court before me today.”

Lim was fined $2,500 for one charge of using abusive words on a public servant.

Siao liao, he got change or not? Should’ve just fined him $3,000.
