If your birthday is between March to June, you probably won’t be celebrating your birthday with a party for two years, and if you’re a NSman, you’ve probably skipped two IPPT cycles.

And if you’re an NSman whose unit usually conducts its ICT (in-camp training) between March to June, you’re probably going to ROD a lot later than your peers.

Because just like last year, non-essential ICTs and IPPTs have been suspended. Again.

MINDEF Deferring All Non-Essential ICTs & IPPTs for NSMen Until 13 June

Lest there are girlfriends, wives, foreigners or domestic cats reading this article, you might want to watch this video to the end to understand the obligations that an NSman has to fulfil:

In a move that’s more expected than a Channel 8 drama, MINDEF announced today that they are “deferring In-Camp Training (ICT), except those essential for operations. The conduct of Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT) and NS Fitness Improvement Training (FIT) at Fitness Conditioning Centres (FCCs), SAFRA gyms and public locations will be suspended. FCCs will also be closed. These measures will take immediate effect and will be in place until 13 June 2021.”

“Activities critical for build-up of operational units will continue with stringent safe management measures (SMMs) in place. As with other essential personnel, the vaccination programme for SAF personnel is making steady progress, with the majority of active forces expected to be vaccinated by the middle of the year. As an added precaution, the SAF had also introduced swab tests for servicemen who enlist in May, as well as their trainers, to ensure that Basic Military Training (BMT) can be conducted safely. These measures will continue.

“The SAF will continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation and review the measures in place to keep our servicemen safe.”

For people whose IPPT window closure are within the suspension period, they will be granted a one-time waiver of their annual IPPT requirement (again).

Gemini uncles, rejoice.

Home Team Suspended IPPT for NSmen 2 Days Ago

It’s not just the uncles in green who would be missing out on the paid slimming sessions.

The Ministry of Home Affairs announced two days ago that ICT for Home Team NSmen will continue as they continue to provide and support essential services, but other Individual Physical Proficiency Tests, IPPT Preparatory Training, Remedial Training and Fitness Improvement Training activities for NSmen will be suspended.

So once again, Gemini uncles, rejoice.
