In late February this year, the stray dogs scattered around Senoko Fishery Port started acting very strange.
One dog lover, Tan, told Shin Min Daily News that he would often feed them, and that they were never afraid when he approached.
But this changed in February.
“I noticed that whenever I got close, they will start running away, or hide in a corner,” Tan said.
“They would only come out to eat the food after the person puts the food down and leave them behind.”
Someone Allegedly Chops Up Stray Dogs in Woodlands & Hangs Them in a Nearby Forest
Tan visited a forested area in Woodlands to ascertain the cause of the suspected abuse, along with a group of dog lovers, and stumbled upon a gruesome sight.
“We saw the carcasses of the dogs thrown inside white gunny sacks, and there were plastic bags hanging off trees, with dog bones and dog fur found inside the bags.”
Tan collected photographic evidence of the scene and the group subsequently reported the incident to the police in Woodlands.
Suspicious Man Who Beats “Disobedient” Dogs Roaming Around Forest
To ascertain the source of the abuse, Tan and other dog lovers started keeping watch around the forested area.
They soon noticed that a middle-aged man would drive a lorry into the area around three days a week.
He would walk into the forest with a stick-like object in his hand, and carry numerous gunny sacks in his lorry.
“He seemed very suspicious,” Tan told Shin Min.
When the group tried to question the man, he was belligerent and gave an answer that was not exactly reassuring.
“I’m here to teach the dogs, if they’re not obedient I’ll beat them,” the man allegedly said to the group.
It’s unclear what the man is actually “teaching” them, or why he’s there at all.
Hoping to collect some evidence of the abuse, Tan hired a private investigator to install hidden cameras in the trees.
But someone found it and knocked it down.
The same thing happened when Tan tried installing a wireless camera under the tree.
Slaughtered For Their Meat?
As abhorrent as this is, it may not be a typical case of dog abuse.
Since the dogs’ fur was plucked, Tan suspects the stray dogs were slaughtered for sale, as dog abusers would usually kill and bury the dog.
As for why the abuser is slaughtering the poor dogs, it could be for their meat.
Dogs Found Locked Up in Cages Too
When another person checked out the area after the initial discovery, they found stray dogs locked up inside cages, and freed them.
Unfortunately, Tan said the group is no longer able to save the stray dogs due to Covid-19 restrictions.
He hoped the authorities would rescue the dogs from their abuser and find the perpetrator before he strikes again.
