A few days ago, an unfortunate accident occurred wherein a 69-year-old woman riding an e-bike was killed in an accident at Cantonment Road near Pinnacle @ Duxton at 5am.

At the accident scene, a red Maserati belonging to a 25-year-old drive can be seen in the middle of the road facing the direction of traffic.

He has since been arrested for dangerous driving causing death.

Soon after the initial accident involving the red Maserati, a yellow car ran over the victim and sped off without stopping.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic and police investigations are still ongoing.

It’s easy to see the entire event as an unfortunate mishap, but at its core is a family who has lost their loved one and an individual who has lost their life.

E-Cyclist In Fatal Maserati Accident Was A Kind & Strong Single Mum

The 69-year-old victim who lost her life was Madam Ong Soh Boey, a single mother who raised two daughters.

She wasn’t just your ordinary super-mom. She worked several jobs over the span of three decades to singlehandedly raise her children.

Some of these included multiple part-time jobs that ranged from washing laundry to becoming a cleaner.

At the time of the fatal accident, Madam Ong was on the way to a provision shop.

It is understood that Madam Ong was a hardworking mother who didn’t need to take on additional part-time jobs, since both her daughters have already begun working.

Madam Ong’s family who spoke to The Straits Times said, “She had to raise two daughters as a single mum, so even after they grew up and started working, she just couldn’t sit still,” said Madam Ong’s niece.

“My aunt was a strong and independent woman. She was kind and thrifty but generous to others,” she added.

The family also said that she had been riding a bicycle between home and work without any problems for the past 30 years.

However, her elder daughter said that she had previously advised Madam Ong to stop riding her bike, but to no avail.

Her younger daughter is currently working in the US and is making her way back to Singapore.
